From 1 September you can apply for a supplier licence: See the application material

28, Jun 2024

From 1 January 2025, suppliers of games must have a licence from the Danish Gambling Authority to supply games to gambling operators with a Danish licence to offer betting and online casino. The Danish Gambling Authority accepts applications from the 1st of September 2024. Guidance material and new application forms are available now on the Danish Gambling Authority’s website.

On the page “Game suppliers” under "For businesses and Associations", you can read about the application process. Here you will find the guidance material and forms for the application process, including:

  • Guidance on supplier licence
  • Application for licence as a game supplier (Form 2-06)
    • Appendix A - Personal statement (Form 2-02)
    • Appendix B-2 – Technical conditions (Form 2-08)
    • Appendix C – Declaration from representative (Form 2-04)

Certification

The Danish Gambling Authority requires that game suppliers' games, game platform, business procedures and business systems must be tested and inspected according to the Danish Gambling Authority's certification programme by an accredited testing company before games can be supplied to gambling operators.

The Danish Gambling Authority is working on finalising a new version of the Danish Gambling Authority's certification programme for betting and online casino. In the new version, the requirements of the current certification programme are split up, so that it is clear what the operator and the game supplier, respectively, are responsible for.

The new certification program is expected to be submitted for consultation in mid-July. The certification program will come into force on 1 January 2025 and updated standard reports will also be available from this date.

Launch of the "Games register"

In connection with the introduction of licences for game suppliers, the Gambling Authority's will launch a new portal for managing game certificates. The register is expected to be operational on 1st of October 2024.

Game supplier applicants will receive login information from the Danish Gambling Authority to the Games register. Applicants can then upload information and game certificates in the games register as part of the application process.

Transition period for certification

Both game certificates and other certifications made according to the current version of the certification programme will continue to be valid. There is thus no need for further certifications if a game supplier's game or game system has already been tested and inspected.

From 1 July 2025, it is mandatory to use the new certification program, but it is recommended that game suppliers and game operators adopt the updated certification programme as soon as possible.
