Sale and sending of tickets for charity lotteries

Sale of tickets on websites

The Danish Gambling Authority cannot license charity lotteries if the lottery is held via machines or electronic terminals. 

However, based on questions from the industry, the Danish Gambling Authority has interpreted the ban in a newsletter of 24 October 2016 so that tickets for charity lotteries can be sold via a website. Nevertheless, it is required that the ticket is also sent physically to the participant. 

Copies of tickets can be sent via email

The Danish Gambling Authority has also opened for the option to send tickets via email if the physical ticket is scanned and sent via email. Thereby the participant can receive a copy of the ticket right after the purchase. Please notice that it is required that the physical tickets are also sent to the participants. 

Given the ban against machines and electronic terminals to hold the lotteries, there are no technical requirements for the provision of charity lotteries. 

The Danish Gambling Authority has not changed the above practice and interpretation.
