888 Denmark Limited fined for breach of the Gambling Act
888 Denmark Limited has accepted a fine of DKK 400,000 for failing to comply with the Danish Gambling Authority’s orders.
The breach consisted in the fact that 888 Denmark Limited failed to comply with three orders issued by the Danish Gambling Authority on 29 April 2025. The orders entailed a duty to act because 888 Denmark limited was ordered to comply with the duty of information on their websites no later than 27 May 2025 by:
- rephrasing the statutory information on responsible gambling since the information provided was written in a formal and distancing style which was difficult for players to understand and use (order a)
- correct the referral to StopSpillet because the link to the helpline was named “Lundomanilinjen”. Thereby it was not clear that the referral was in fact to the Danish Gambling Authority’s helpline (order b)
- adjust the size of the Danish Gambling Authority’s label since the label was not clearly visible to the player (order c).
Failure to comply with the Danish Gambling Authority’s orders is a breach of section 59(5)(9) cf. section 49(a) of the Gambling Act. On 1 June 2026, 888 Limited Denmark accepted the fine.
