The gambling market in May 2026: Significant increase in total gambling spend
Danes’ gambling spend increased in May 2026 compared to the same month last year, according to the latest monthly statistics from the Danish Gambling Authority. All gambling sectors experienced growth compared to May last year.
The figures show that the total gambling spend in May 2026 rose by 21.5% year-on-year. Sports betting saw an increase of 54.2%, while online casino grew by 14.6%. Slot machines recorded a 3.4% rise. Land‑based bingo increased by 23.1%, and finally, land‑based casinos saw an increase of 7.8%.
The monthly statistics also include figures for the Danish Gambling Authority’s Register of Voluntarily Excluded Players (ROFUS) and the StopSpillet helpline.
