Case concerning players’ funds at another bankrupt gambling operator to be heard by the Supreme Court

A player’s right to the money held in their account with another bankrupt gambling operator has previously been considered by the Maritime and Commercial Court and subsequently by the High Court. The High Court overturned the judgment of the Maritime and Commercial Court and ruled in favour of the player, finding that funds in a player account are subject to special protection and belong to the player independently of the bankruptcy estate’s other creditors.

The parties now await the Supreme Court’s decision on the matter.
