ROFUS
ROFUS is the Danish Gambling Authority’s register of self-excluded persons.
If you wish to self-exclude temporarily or permanently from gambling in Denmark, you can register yourself voluntarily with ROFUS using MitID.
Keep in mind
- You cannot annul or remove your registration
- ROFUS covers all online gambling activities with a stake offered by gambling operators with a Danish licence as well as all Danish land-based casinos. If you have registered on 1 October 2023 or after, ROFUS also covers betting at physical retailers in Denmark.
- When you register with ROFUS, gambling operators may process your data if you attempt to log into or create a new account as well as prior to sending direct marketing material
- A registration in ROFUS is personal which means that you can only register yourself
- The Danish Gambling Authority makes reservations for any technical errors in ROFUS and thus cannot be held responsible for such occurrences

How does ROFUS work?
What is covered by ROFUS?
If you are registered in ROFUS, you exclude yourself from online gambling and all land-based casinos in Denmark. In this context, online gambling is betting and online casino gambling as e.g. poker, roulette, and gambling on gaming machines. From 1 October 2023, the exclusion also covers in-person betting at physical retailers in Denmark. Registrations made before 1 October 2023 will not change.
Self-exclusion – for how long?
- 24 hours
- 1, 3, or 6 months
- Permanent exclusion
You have the opportunity to take a 24-hour break from gambling or a temporary break of 1, 3, or 6 months. You also have the opportunity to self-exclude permanently. Temporary exclusions are automatically removed when the period expires on the exact time. If you have chosen to self-exclude permanently, you can request the Danish Gambling Authority to have your registration removed one year after your registration at the earliest. To have your registration in ROFUS removed, you must log into ww.rofus.nu usng your MitID. The request must be confirmed by logging into www.rofus.nu no earlier than seven days and no later than 30 days after the request was made.
Personal and confidential
A registration in ROFUS is personal which is why you can only register yourself.
The Danish Gambling Authority handles your information confidentially. Only the gambling operators at which you have an account can see your registration in ROFUS. However, the gambling operators can only see your registration if you attempt to log into or create an account during your self-exclusion period.
Marketing
When you register with ROFUS, you also sign up to the “No thank you to marketing” arrangement. This way, you avoid receiving gambling advertising from online gambling operators with a licence to provide gambling in Denmark while you are registered with ROFUS.
The gambling operator can see that you are registered with ROFUS when they send out advertising.
By gambling advertising is meant any type of commercial contact via phone numbers, email addresses, postal addresses, or other information, that the gambling operator has on you.

Frequently asked questions
What is meant by permanent exclusion?
A permanent exclusion is by definition permanent. However, after 1 year at the earliest, it is possible to request the Danish Gambling Authority to have the registration removed. If you attempt to log in to your account during your self-exclusion period, your account will be closed. Any deposit on your account must be paid to you when the account is closed.
To have your registration in ROFUS removed, you must log into ww.rofus.nu using your MitID and request a removal of the exclusion. The request must be confirmed by logging into www.rofus.nu no earlier than seven days and no later than 30 days after the request was made.
Why must I use MitID to register in ROFUS?
You must use MitID when you register in ROFUS to ensure the highest possible level of security and to avoid fake registration and similar. It also means that only you can register yourself in ROFUS.
Can I register in ROFUS without using MitID?
If it is not possible for you to register with ROFUS by using MitID, you can fill in and send form no. 9-01 via our contact form or to:

Can I be sure that nobody discovers my registration in ROFUS?
ROFUS is a secure register, which only a few employees at the Danish Gambling Authority have access to. The employees are subject to the duty of confidentiality and the regulations in the General Data Protection Regulation.
Gambling operators are only allowed to control civil registration numbers in ROFUS if you attempt to create a new account or log into an existing account.
When you register with ROFUS, you also sign up to the “No thank you to marketing” arrangement. The gambling operator can see that you are registered with ROFUS when they send out advertising.
The “No thank you to marketing” arrangement is a mandatory arrangement for gambling operators and players.
What to do if I regret my registration with ROFUS?
A registration with ROFUS is binding and it is not possible to have the registration removed or annulled.
What to do if I want the registration with ROFUS removed?
If you have excluded yourself temporarily, your registration will be removed auomatically when the chosen period expires.
If you have chosen to self-exclude permanently, you can request the Danish Gambling Authority to have your registration removed one year after your registration at the earliest. To have your registration in ROFUS removed, you must log into ww.rofus.nu using your MitID and request a removal of the exclusion. The request must be confirmed by logging into www.rofus.nu no earlier than seven days and no later than 30 days after the request was made.
Can I have the deposit from an account returned when I am registered with ROFUS?
If you have registered yourself permanently with ROFUS, the gambling operator must automatically close your account and pay out any deposit to you when they become aware of your permanent exclusion. If you have registered yourself temporarily, your account is temporarily deactivated. If you wish to have a deposit paid out, you must contact the gambling operator for more information.
Exclusion from a particular gambling operator or a land-based casino
You can exclude yourself from a particular gambling operator on the operator’s own website. The exclusion can last for 24 hours, at least 30 days, or permanently. A permanent exclusion causes your account to be closed.

I am no longer registered with ROFUS but I cannot log into or create an account at a gambling operator with a licence in Denmark. What to do?
Contact the gambling operator in question, as a technical error may have occurred.
I do not wish to self-exclude with ROFUS but I would like to check if my gambling can be problematic. What to do?
On their websites, gambling operators must refer to a “self-test for compulsive gambling”. You can also find the test on ROFUS.nu.

I am registered with ROFUS but still able to log in and gamble. What to do?
The gambling operator is responsible for ensuring that you cannot gamble while you are registered with ROFUS. Therefore, it is important that you contact the gambling operator in question as soon as you discover the error. The Danish Gambling Authority is very interested in hearing from you in case of such errors, so that we are able to include it in our supervision of the gambling operators.
